A Life In Reverse is a Folk / Indie-Rock band from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Their official website can be found at www.alifeinreverse.com.
Leveraging the influence of artists such as Murder By Death, The Decemberists, Bright Eyes, Belle and Sebastian, and Wilco, A Life In Reverse craft an original cross-genre sound. Born out of a studio project started in a Phoenixville apartment by Dan & Greg, work on their debut album, Leaving Ashland, completed in September 2008.
In the Fall of 2009, Mike DePalma joined the project to contribute additional lead & rhythm guitar work. His first contributions are showcased in the song On The Edge of The Desert from their EP The Devil Carries A Pistol.
The project currently consists of four members; Greg, Mike, Aki, and Dan. Acting as the principal songwriter, Greg incorporates a variety of instruments during the writing process. Instruments including banjo, mandolin, and harmonica contribute to the band's unique sound. Mike contributes additional lead, rhythm, and bass guitar parts. Dan covers rhythm instruments including analog and digital drums, percussion, and digital effects and samples. He also engineers the band's recording work.
Leaving Ashland delivers the culmination of eight months of songwriting and recording. The band self-produced the album in their studio using Apple's Garage Band exclusively for tracking and mixing. All aspects of the release were handled by the band to ensure full control of the entire production process.
In October of 2009, the band released their second album, The Devil Carries A Pistol. Drawing on influences such as Murder By Death, Johnny Cash, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the band crafted an old-west themed, 7 song concept EP.
