Asleep in the Park are a mischievous musical collective hailing from Melbourne, with an infectious and esoteric sound that has led to them being aptly described as the bastard lovechild of The Sex Pistols and The B52s. Their first album, 2004's 'Sky Caves In', announced their arrival on the indie scene and was followed by the 'Let You Go' EP, which was supported by a raucous tour of Eastern Europe.
The latest assortment of tunes from the effervescent creative force represents a quantum leap in the Asleep in the Park sound. The album demos attracted the attention of A&R luminary Matt O'Connor (The Beautiful Girls, Shihad, Magic Dirt, Ash Grunwald, The Fumes, Epicure) who collaborated with famed LA-based producer Rick Parker (Dandy Warhols, Von Bondies, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) to record the irreverent collection of tracks.
Said tracks are an unforgiving mixture of genres, a unique and contradictory body of work grounded in 90s grunge and modern indie rock, spearheaded by the songs "Adios Amigo" and "Talk Like We Should Listen". These translate ever so well to the live arena, with word of the group's raw onstage energy spreading fast.
Asleep in the Park return to Europe in September and October, taking their frenetic live show to stages in Ukraine, Romania, Turkey and Germany. Once they return to Australian shores, the dynamic collective will be touring in preparation for their early 2009 EP release.
