Jarren Eric Dupree “AKA” J. Dunny "AKA" BID FACE DUNNY was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1985. He was a healthy 9 lbs. 10 oz. baby who was loved very much by his mother, Adrienne Deborah Dupree. Jarren grew up having much love for music and the business of music. He also enjoyed listening to music and making different patterns with his hands. He would beat on the walls, the back of chairs and even pots and pans to create unique sounds. At the young age of three, Jarren’s mother bought him his first drum set and that was the beginning of Jarren’s career. At the time no one would have thought that Jarren would be musically inclined the way he is today. They figured he was going through a faze. His mother, who is also a musician, took him seriously because at his young age his only interest was making music with his hands and mouth. When Jarren became six years of age he received his second drum set, he began listening to music and playing to the beat. His mother enjoyed listening and watching her son make music. The neighbors would hear him play the drums all day and never once complained. During the course of the years Jarren learned how to beat box with his mouth and hum at the same time, which seemed to annoy the people around him.
When he was 11 years old his mother took him to an audition that she tried out for. That was the day she met the love of her life, “Maurice Hampton” who also played the drums for the “Serious Mix Band”. Jarren was so amazed at how Maurice “AKA” Mo played. Jarren was fascinated because Mo was quick with his hands. When the audition was over Mo gave Jarren a pair of drumsticks, and from that day Adrienne and Mo began dating after a year. They brought Jarren a professional drum set when he turned 12 years old. He was so happy because he also received a learn how to play drum CD. He would play in the basement with the CD on all day long.
Jarren’s siblings would watch him and they were influenced to play instruments as well. So his mother purchased each one of them their own. Jarren’s brother Melek played the bass guitar, his youngest brother Deric played the keyboard and they would play Roller Coaster and perform it for the family. When Jarren took his talents to high school he joined the Jazz band and played the drums for four years. He also learned how to make beats in school. He graduated and went to college, with a major in Mass Communications. He had his own radio station and would make beats for the sports teams.
Jarren enjoys music so much his mother began taking his music career more seriously and started copyrighting all of it. People began listening to his music and he received positive remarks from other musicians. He began his own production company from home building up his clientele and he soared. Jarren met a lot of important and helpful people along the way. Some of them were positive and some were negative, but over all they were learning experiences for him.
Jarren’s goal is to be the best producer he could be for the community. He wants to help students and young children learn the music business, mainly children from low-income families. To give them something else to do besides hanging in the streets after playing sports and video games full of violence. He also wants to be able to offer as much help to people because Philadelphia has many talented people, but most cannot afford to travel to places such as New York. Jarren wants to offer his help in many ways so that they will be able to have hands on experience from a music producer’s perspective on whether they should continue to pursue music as a career or not.
