"Die Robot is one of the best bands to come out of Portland. They have a sound that is unique, haunting, romantic, full of angst and soul" - Sean Johnson (DJ Kaos)
"Die Robot's new sound is really good. The guitar is just heavy enough, the drums are crisp, vocals rock, and the groove of the bass is like a predatory animal A- (DJ Horrid)"
From 2012 to Present: Die Robot started on the summer of 2012, when former members of Pop Dolls and longtime songwriters buddies, Vince Christian (vocals, guitar) and Barbie Saint (bass, vocals) moved to Portland where they met Mallory Hamilton at a movie/video games store. Mallory plays the band's keyboards, synth, sampler and she also plays tenor sax in some songs. One night watching the first Alien's movie, at the part where Ellen Ripley is fighting the human looking robot that wouldn't die, Barbie Saint yells at the screen Die Robot! and they decided right there, that'd be their band name. Their first official show was October 17, 2012. Mallory was not 21 yet so they play numerous shows at the Red Room, a venue that allowed Mallory to hangout, without drinking, after the shows. A year later and after playing as a trio in places like the Star Theater, Mount Tabor Theater, East End, The Lovecraft Bar, etc. Angela Johnson joins Die Robot in drums. Charles Beasley, joins the band in guitars a few month after Angela. In the summer of 2014 they recorded their first EP self title, Die Robot. Charles leaves the band due to medical issues. A few month later, Josh Ketterer joins the band in guitar; and they released their debut EP at a packed Star Theater for Hive on September 07. 2014. After one year playing amazing shows with this new lineup and opening for Orgy in April, 2015 and playing a few more shows at Star Theater, Josh Ketterer leaves the band to do the domestic life and two months later, Mallory Hamilton, keyboard, and sax player, left the band as she decides to move out to a different state. Die Robot is going to continue strong as ever. However, it will take a few months as they are writing a whole new set of songs and recording, a few of these new singles will be released soon. Their comeback show is Halloween 2015 at The Lovecraft for Shadowplay. Die Robot continues as a trio with Barbie Saint now playing all the strings, bass and guitar; Angela as their backbone rocking drummer and of course the multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer, Vince Christian, a forth DR member is announced: the amazing Nathan Droid in Keys, Synths, Kaoss Pad and sampler machines. The evolution of their sound now working very close with Retro Mechanical Labs and DBS Industries will be heard very soon in their upcoming recordings. Some live videos can be seeing at their YouTube channel now. Die Robot is currently in the studio, recording new songs for their debut album and playing several shows. -
