Head Of Programmes is essentially the alias of James MacGregor, a singer/songwriter based in South West England. He writes simple songs that wander the same paths of love, joy and failure profered by Smog, Sun Kill Moon or Bonnie Prince Billy, producing a beautiful and sometimes painfully intimate alt-country meets indie rock sound.
He sometimes plays with a band, and sometimes alone.

Writing, recording and touring consistantly since 2006, Head Of Programmes has slowly built a name on the underground as a serious songwriter, carrying on in the tradition of Leonard Cohen or Neil Young. He has played shows with Mount Eerie/The Microphones, Alasdair Roberts, Joe Lally of Fugazi, WeVsDeath, J Mascis and The Fog and Seth Lakeman amongst others, and also recorded a seesion for BBC radio last Winter (2009). Head Of Programmes debut release, "The Magnetic South" was released in Dec 2008, and a new LP entitled "Goodbye, Forever" will follow in Summer 2010 released via the UPR Records label.
