Werner Niedermeier met Anthea Nzekwu back in 2003, when he moved to London and started working with her at Flying Records in Soho. They quickly formed a strong friendship based on their faith in Jesus Christ and their ultimate passion for music.
In 2007, ‘JC Freaks’ was born…
The debut release ‘The Rock’ got snapped up by the extremely well respected underground house label: Mojuba/Wandering Records. ‘The Rock’ was sold out within a month, re-pressed and could be found on the ‘essential list’ on sites such as Hardwax, Freebase, Phonica Records, Juno Records, and Rush Hour… ‘The Rock’ (“a real underground minimal house banger…. fresh but classic at the same time!” wordandsound), seemed to reach across the board with massive support from dj’s such as: Tobi Neumann, Ame, Jay Haze, Martin Landsky, Damian Lazarus, Cle, Dj Deep, Manuel Tur, Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Giles Smith and many more…
Following the success of ‘The Rock’, ‘The Number One Ep’ is lined up for Spring 2009 as a follow up single on Mojuba/Wandering Records, as well as other releases such as ‘Dub Praise’ on the new ‘Phonica’ label as well as having several remix offers in the pipe line…
They have played all over the globe at clubs such as; Panorama Bar & Watergate – Berlin, Yellow & Module-Tokyo, Turntables on the Hudson-New York, Metro-Mexico, Pacha-Spain, Space & Underground-Ibiza, Rex Club-Paris, The Room -Madrid, -Soda- Athens and of course at their home base they have regularly made guest appearances at clubs and parties such as Fabric, The End, T-Bar, Ministry Of Sound, Circo Loco & Clandestino to name a few…
Anthea currently works at London’s leading electronic music store, Phonica Records, and hosts a monthly party at an exclusive members club in London’s Mayfair called ‘Balance’, which runs every last Saturday of the month. Audio Culture Recordings managed by Werner, has its 17th release coming out in November 2008. He regularly engineers and work for other artists and has been doing so for many years.
JC Freaks lay down special deep, driving house that appeal to all subscribers of the four-four sound, from deep housers to minimal freaks to techno heads and beyond. This highly talented act will get you moving on the dance floor whether by their solid productions, or their sophistication behind the decks.
Definitely ones to watch!
