Some of those qualities were transferred to Yano's new band Kapow!, whose comic-book sound-effect name foreshadows their era-influence of choice. Working the fictional Nuggets outtake angle, "Make You Mine" avoids being nostalgia-drunk by DeLoreaning a blippy synth into the garage; harmonized bored-slur vocals and isolated feedback bursts cloud up the sunny-day lyrics. But the flipped "Ticket to Ride" bridge is a reminder that pop always saves the day, and indicates Yano absorbed more than a little bit about playfully skewed refractions of rock history from his former employers
