Little Bark first came to attention with the release of her debut ‘Hope is Rubbery’ in 2011. The project of musician Sophie Burbery, the critically acclaimed split album (one side Sophie Burbery, the other Little Bark) introduced a set of what Radio NZ called; ‘Curious, fantastical songs…like falling through clouds”.
She’s spent the last 3 years readying herself for her sophomore album, USB, set for release on July 4. Her latest single from USB, ‘Arpreggiator’, was selected as one of 10 songs to feature as part of the Becks ‘New New Zealand Music Project’ in May 2014. Produced in collaboration with Stef Animal (The Golden Awesome, Mestar), USB is a synth-based ‘soundtrack’ album, featuring both pop and instrumental songs. 10 tracks that both dance and brood, like Madonna with a furrowed brow. Imagine a twisted coupling of Vangelis, Madonna and Fever Ray, but even that image only just scratches the surface.
Little Bark performs with a 4 piece band, featuring 2 synthesists, a drummer (using a Simmons electronic kit), bassist and vocals.
