Singer

Singer
1, Singer challenges the norms with an automatic-writing songwriting technique involving all four members of Singer, giving the songs a lurching, lunching feel that is then topped with vocalese of similar inclination: everyone's involved, everyone's a singer. They harmonize, they atonalize, they take solo turns. This on top of double-guitars and a few moments of double-drums produces some thrillingly unpredictable songs — and live, they're brought across with a similarly four-headed approach that coalesces and then recedes into quasi-uncertainty, studded with bits of jangle, funk and drone. Bad Times' Best New Bands of 2009

This is my own list and has no connection to the current poll.. I have disqualified bands I know have existed prior to 2008, including some of my favorites such as Here Comes A Big Black Cloud, Popitilopitilus, Mattress, and Magic Johnson, all of whom I guess I’m giving props to right now.1.. Stag BittenHardcore, punk, whatever.. Stag Bitten always brings it.

FU: The best ALL AGES venue in portland - it's new, it's the Factory Underground

Let's start with the bad : they're north.. Wicked North.Everything else at the Factory Underground is pandas and puppies and fireworks and punk rock rainbows - this place is awesome.. Bands, coffee, cute girls running an art gallery that doesn't suck (really -it doesn't suck!), a half-pipe(?!),I grew up in small towns(s) midwest and if we weren't getting kicked out of wall-mart (the intercom is [*]+[0]+[3] by-the-way), we were sitting at Denny's, chain smoking, drinking coffee and talking about opening up the coolest place in the universe...some sort of punk rock coffee shop with half-pipes and all of our favorite bands.. It's pretty crazy just how closely the Factory Underground resembles everything i ever wanted out of being a trapped in teenager in the boring ass madwest.

gkowash Dude if it says "ask a punk" then just look it up on facebook, you can usually find the address there. And if you can't find it, email whoever's hosting the show. Some people just don't want to put their address out on the internet for everyone to see, it's not a big deal.

    -11/8/2014 12:34:50 PM
Show-bot! if it's not 'axe a punk' then people don't post shows at all then there's no way to find out if you're not popular. Axe a punk postings allow you to see that your favorite band is playing somewhere soon and then ask then where it is. We tried for many years to not do this - but that's what people post. (...and everybody gets mad at us either way) I'd argue that not posting anything altogether is the more pretentious option.
    -11/8/2014 11:49:13 AM
HAYWOOF Alirght I'm just gonna say it. This "ask a punk" shit is pretentious, annoying and makes it so people that aren't popular or don't give a shit sometimes can't find shows.
