"The Conquistadors" are two thirds Latin American, one third Finnish trio of musicians who despite hiding behind masks reveal their heart and soul when it comes to their music. Their story began a few years ago when Conquistador #1 (after trying to find a home in roughly half of the nations in Europe) paid a visit to his cousin, Conquistador #2, who'd been living in Vaasa, Finland for quite a while. After being introduced to Nordman and falling in love with this tiny city, the trio found themselves thinking very similarly about music.

So during the first recording sessions in Nordman's studio it became very clear that some powerful musical experiences were just waiting to burst out of their collective consciousness.
"The Conquistadors" make music in quite a different way than most of their modern contemporaries, you could almost say that they have their own dogma rule. Their debut album "Mil Mascaras" has been recorded and written one song a day, no material has been done outside the studio, or before or after the day the song is recorded. Also while they use heavily electronic instruments, the sound they create is very human which might be because the songs aren't recorded to pre-programmed sequences but played live in the studio.
I hear some of you wondering about the masks. Well, currently Conquistador #1 needs his privacy and is in a position where certain people from his past do not need to know his whereabouts. But hey, it's all about the music, ainnit?
"The Conquistadors"' radio single "Daydreamer" is making its way onto the promo circuit as we speak and their debut album "Mil Mascaras" is coming out early 2007 on Elements Music / Kinkt Records (distributed in Finland by Playground Music).
