Is there no way to be a part of the compilation, or even considered, without MP3's or the ability to create them? How do we get a hold of you sans internet?

Legitimate concerns, and not facetious ones. Well maybe a little. Clearly that's some DIY shit if i ever heard it.

You don't have to have MP3s to submit to the comp. As it says, "Artists can still opt to mail in CDs...." Information about how to submit a physical CD is on our website. Go to http://www.pdxpopnow.com, click on the link at the top that says "Submit Your Music", then on the link for the offline submission form. You can fill out the form and mail it to PPN! along with your CD. Hope that helps.

pdxpopnow is getting better but give us more rock this year. I'm glad that Silentist, the Cysts, the Taxpayers and Chervona on it last year - but we need moar this year. There is way moar style than just portland indie drool!

As a former PDX Pop Now! board member, I can tell you that the best way to ensure that bands you like get on the PPN! comp is to make sure that they submit. The PPN! folks can only put on as much rock as they get in submissions. I do believe that the compilation and festival get more diverse and inclusive every year. In 2009, for example, in addition the bands that you mentioned, I think it's pretty clear that Luck-One, Third Angle, Caleb Klauder, Sandpeople and the Blue Cranes don't fall anywhere under the indie banner. And then, among others, don't forget Pierced Arrows, Thrones, Fear No Music, Chamber of Commerce, Lightheaded, Daniel Menche and Cull at last year's fest.
