Okay, maybe not 'spits' but we stuck that in there for Jay Awesome and you other minneapolisotans. We usually don't post press releases from bars but we love bikes and also being cooler than Minneapolis. —from doug fir:
Doing Our Part In Reclaiming "The Most Bike Friendly Community"
Portland has been atop of Bicycle Magazine's most bike friendly cities since 1995. We have always looked down at the competition. Well, until now. According to this years rankings we have been replaced and dethroned by Minneapolis. And that just doesn't sit well. Doug Fir is committed to doing its part in reclaiming our rightful throne. Recently we were "spinning our wheels" trying to figure out how we could help in this endeavor and are proud to announce the launch of "First Mondays Biking Wonderland : Gold Sprints Stationary Racing." Starting May 3rd, for 6 months, we will host this event with the championship heats in October.

Each night will begin with a "Biking Social" and racing registration at 6:00 pm. The races will be held under the awning on the patio from 7:00 til 9:00 pm. Now, we have been told that this thing is gaining a lot of momentum, so we are prepared to push it til 10 if necessary. We want to make sure everyone gets their chance to ride. Our friends over at Team Beer will be on hand to coordinate the competitions and The Bicycle Chiropractor will make sure all legs are loose.
And what would a party be without prizes and drink specials?
There will be nifty prizes for both participants & spectators and of course drink specials!
