One of my favorite bands of all time is playing in town tonight and i feel it is my obligation to boycott.
I don't think i could actually bear to see Refused. The Shape of Punk to Come is one of the best, most solid albums ever released and it never got the justice it deserved with the bands sudden breakup. -That was 15 years ago though. What if i did actually see this show and it sucked? I don't know if i could handle that.
I feel this whole Refused resurgence thing is kind of a taint in itself - i think i do love them a little less now. How am i supposed to feel about a band that would actually play $50+ shows? I think that shit is lame and super played.
Back in the day, when i imagined The Shape of Punk to Come, i didn't know it came with a $50 price tag. FUCK OFF.
This is Glenn, He has skulliosous Have you seen
the Taxpayers car? That shit cost $23 dollars. Twenty-Three-fucking dollars.. that means you could buy TWO cars AND still have enough for a six-pack for the same price as tonight's Refused show.
Can you still perform The Deadly Rhythm with the same passion when you're grabbing $50+ a ticket as the band that is in a basement living the lyrics a little bit ... more authentically?
"Money proves the point and I'm stuck between summer holidays & punk routine"
So yeah
go see Tiny Knives and crew - you know those gals always rock as shit!
BtMI! is playing a farewell tour show at backspace tonight - that's some real DIY shit right there. Those cats we're super cool last time they played out living room and even now that they're a HUGE BIG TIME BAND and playing *venues*, i'll bet they'd still toss in their own money to make sure that you got in the door. -That's really what the shape of punk is to come.. DIY 'till we die!
I understand that people get old and get mortgages and have bills and shit, but i'll never believe that $50 for a show is reasonable. It's bullshit Katy Perry stuff.
Refused Are Fuckin Dead to me.
