It was over five years ago that i met the poppa of the Portland scene, Arya Imig. It was at a show, of course, in the dmug basement that sparked it. Since then, i think we've done some cool things together. One of my favorites is this podcast from the fall of 2007. And by we've done together i mean, he did the podcast and all of the work, i didn't do much beyond axe'ing him if he wanted to do it.
The podcast was called take five - the concept being Arya plays five songs: you fucking love it. Well, the man behind the Take Five namesake, jazz-great Dave Brubeck, walked on (died) yesterday, a day short of his 92 birthday. This prompted a call from portland-great Arya on topic of the old podcast episodes.
Well, *with* further adoo-doo, we're bringing it back. Take an adventure with the "indie-pop superstar" as he introduces us to awesomeness such as 'Black Joe, Motherfucker', Starfucker and so many other rad artists that would go on to soundtrack Target commercials. Hopefully this will be a delightful surprise for the host who no longer has these copies, and hopefully you'll enjoy it too!
