Dear KBOO members, supporters and No-Fest Enthusiasts,
This is your call to action!
My name is Jennifer Kemp and I’m the volunteer coordinator for No-Fest, St. John’s one and only free all ages experimental music festival. This is only the second year of No-Fest, but last year’s festival was a smashing success with artists like Evolutionary Jass Band, White Rainbow and Eternal Tapestry stirring up the crowd.
This year we hope to make No-Fest bigger, better and even more experimental with local artists from even wider ranging genres. Which is where you come in. I’m working with Sean Ongley to put together a team of committed volunteers who are stoked about local music, freedom of expression and unparalleled Portland weirdness. So if you are excited about any of these and want to be an active part of making the No-Fest dream a reality, we want YOU.
Put as much time into it as you can but don’t feel pressured to take on more than you’re able to, participation can be at any level. Specifically we need people to make and put up posters, contact venues band liaisons, band recruiters, sound checkers, roadies, people to board-op, sponsors, people to organize food, vendors, photographers and merch sellers.
And of course if you’re in a band or know of any who would be interested in playing No-Fest or our No-Fest benefit show on May 14th at Backspace please speak up! To find out more, come to our open house meeting at KBOO (20 SE 8th Ave) on March 31st at 7:00. And if you have any questions, shoot me an e-mail or send one to Sean at seanongley@yahoo.com. Rock ‘n’roll.
Jennifer
