60/40 - Destination of Psychedelic Undulation
Creature of chance? No. This is the intentionally arranged encounter of the grunge and Syd Barrett.
60/40 was formed in 1990, just before the explosion of alternative rock in Japan.
The band’s line-up consisted of Jun Shimoyama(G./Vo.), Masafumi Minato(Dr.), Akira Shimoyama(B.), Suekichi-guy(Vo.), Sun-chiriko(Key/Vo.). In 1992, the first album was released on Psy-cho Level.
Along the recording sessions, they begun producing a series of multi-artist gigs called “Concert Encouraging a Nocturnal Prowl” between 1991 and 1994.
On account of their performing technique and far-out ideas, 60/40 is acclaimed as the outstanding figure in the history of Japanese rock music.
Their style is a creative mixture of essence of ever emerged forms such as psychedelic, progressive, new wave and grunge representing each decade from 60s to 90s.
You can experience their innovative sound on ”100=60/40 THECOMPLETE RECORDINGS OF 60/40”[COCP-50862/63] reissued in 2005.
