PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has begun accepting submissions for its 2011 compilation. Submissions can be made online at www.pdxpopnow.org and will be accepted through February 28, 2011.
PDX Pop Now! is excited to announce the launch of its new website which features new design, photos, outreach information, historical background on the organization, and many different ways to get involved. PDX Pop Now! will be holding its first 2011 volunteer meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 7-9 p.m. at Backspace. At the meeting volunteers can apply for the booking committee, sign up to be on the compilation listening, marketing and fundraising committees or to volunteer at the festival. This will also be an opportunity to get to know the PDX Pop Now! 2011 Board of Directors.
PDX Pop Now! closed out a successful fall fundraising campaign raising $7,313, and allowing the organization to purchase a PA system for use in outreach and school programs. The purchase of the PA system will allow the organization to expand it's outreach efforts significantly over the next few years. Check out a video of the PDX Pop Now! event at Boise-Eliot Elementary School on November 30, 2010. Also, the organization was recently awarded a $4,919 Regional Arts and Culture Council Project Grant in support of the annual festival.
