East Coast transplants Adam and Stephanie have made a nice niche for art in Portland with Rererato since it's inception in early 2007. With a last few great shows in just a few weeks, Rererato will be packing up and shutting it's doors for good.
This All-Ages venue has been so much more than just music. While it's been the anchor in KPSU's Experimental Music Series and key in the Experimental + Noise scene over the last year, they've also hosted everything from puppet shows, art galleries and television shows.
They've been through a wild ride in the ~16 months the space existed with a few of those being totally quiet due to the city temporarily shutting down operations due to zoning commissions. Rererato was ultimately saved by petition of fans and future mayor and All-Ages art supporter Sam Adams.
From an old Hare Krishna house, this space became a integral part of a broad spectrum in the Portland creative community and it's closing will surely leave a mark, hopefully someone will step up and take over with something equally as fantastic.

Here is a letter from Rererato runners Adam and Stephanie on the closing and final few weeks:
Hey everybody,
After a year and a half of countless amazing events here at Rererato, we have decided to focus on some of our other projects, and close up shop in mid-November. Running the space has been a labor of love, a really rewarding experience, but its time for us to move on. It's been a wild ride, and we'd like to thank everyone for their support and involvement.
But don't jump ship just yet!! There are still a bunch of AWESOME shows coming up, including a great Halloween Party OCT 31 (mark your calendars!!). We are really looking forward to seeing you at these shows.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in running your own art salon/music venue at this address, we would love to hear from you. It would be great to see the space continue to be used in this way, and our landlord would give preference to those interested in doing so.
