Living in a converted warehouse in the outskirts of Sydney, RAPIDS are a raucous house-party with moments of reflection. Consisting of frontman Jamie Timony, Angus McLaren on drums and Remy Hii and Will Shepherd swapping between bass and lead guitar, this four piece has had a busy 2010.
The release of their self-titled EP through Pedestrian.tv earlier 2010 saw them feature on US mega-blog BIG STEREO, support the likes of The Vasco Era, Parades, Howl and Deep Sea Arcade and recently play main stage for the Oxford Art Factory 3rd Birthday celebrations. The single off their EP, 'Get Better Than That' has backed everything from a Suicide Girls DVD to the ABCs new pop-series Dance Academy.
The 21st of September marked the release of their brand new single ‘The Phillip, The Hawk’ maintaining their spacious and catchy song writing yet expressing a sense of urgency and fragility. Recorded in a studio in Melbourne known as ‘The Manor’ and mixed by LA producer Eric J Dubowksy (Weezer) in Sydney’s Big Jesus Burger studio, the release was coupled with a stunning film clip directed by Kain O’Keefe that can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e3ihmHdF6Y.
Triple J ‘Home and Hosed’ presenters Dom Alessio and Steph Hughs give it 4/5 describing it as a “great track” and awarding the band Unearthed Feature Artist. The accompanying film clip has already been picked up by the ABC’s RAGE program and featured on triple J’s film clip Friday alongside Gyroscope and Miami Horror.
