Early 2005 A.D.-Action Friend is formed in glorious Northwest Denver. After months of courting each other via e-mail, founding members Paul Alexander, Don White Jr. and Jeremy McLean meet to play for the first time. Drawing from many diverse influences, the sound they forge becomes "somewhat schizophrenic." Peaks of roaring noise meet valleys of subtle ambience and everything else in-between. Styles that should have no business together are forced to coexist and work. This is first documented when Action Friend records a demo with Jim McGowan in Jer's basement on June 11th.
June 12, 2005 A.D.-A day after recording their demo, Action Friend begins to play out. The debut takes place at a club in Denver called The Larimer Lounge. Shortly thereafter, they start playing anywhere they can, and in front of anyone they can (but usually no one). This begins Action Friend's "more shows than practice" habit. It's not a terribly bad habit though. By the end of 2005, Action Friend had played almost two dozen shows in Denver and Ft. Collins, and had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many local and national bands including: Skeleton Key, Captured! By Robots, The Mass, Heroine Sheiks and Deerhoof.
Early 2006 A.D.-Action Friend picks up right where they left off....offending eardrums anywhere they can. In March, Action Friend gets the honor of opening for Orthrelm and Zombi at Monkey Mania. The rest of 2006 went on without a hitch, as Action Friend continues playing shows, pissing some people off, and recording yet another demo (this time with friend and cohort JL Bait of Ft. Collins' own Prolly). By the end of 2006, they had shared the stage with such bands as: Simon, The Golden Arm Trio, Nightshark, Chrome/Helios Creed, BERET!, Dysrhythmia, Genghis Tron, Behold The Arctopus, Made Out Of Babies, and The Japanese New Music Festival (featuring Yoshida from RUINS, and Tsuyama and Kawabata from Acid Mothers Temple). The end of 2006 also brought about some change for Action Friend when they had to part ways with original bassist Don White Jr.
Early 2007 A.D.-Action Friend forges on, adding Paul's longtime friend and former Liquid Enemy bandmate Shaun Solomon on bass. The new trio starts the New Year by pulling off some improv shows and opening for Tartar Lamb (Featuring Mia and Toby of Kayo Dot).
Fast forward to now - Action Friend releases their self-titled debut in August 2008. The album was produced by the Deaf Nephews (featuring Melvins' drummer Dale Crover & Big Business guitarist Toshi Kasai) and is comprised of 7 tracks of instrumental madness. The individual songs and the album as a whole bring many different genres and styles into the mix.
