Returning to Edmonton, Calder began shaping a more solitary, introspective style—woozy bedroom pop that carried the detached charm of DeMarco’s work but leaned darker and more fragile, drawing comparisons to Nick Drake. Recording initially as Collage Party, he self-released early material online before signing with [company]Captured Tracks[/company] and relocating to Montreal.
Under his own name, he debuted with the Time EP in 2013, followed by the full-length Strange Dreams, expanding his hazy, dreamlike sound. In 2016, he released the Covers EP. After stepping away from a widely publicized career in 2017, he continued to record and release music independently. His final release was the 2022 single “I Am Glue.”
On March 4, 2026. Calder died unexpectedly at home. In a statement, Calder was stated to "truly enjoy the life he had made for himself" finding happiness in “his girlfriend Lindsay, his friends, and his cat Jason,” and that he was “incredibly proud of the hundreds of songs he had made over the years, and of the people whose lives they touched.” In the same statement by his manager, it was added that he would preserve Calder’s legacy by reinstating his music on streaming platforms and preparing additional material for posthumous release.
