Alien Parachute Man is a 4-piece progressive hard rock band hailing from Portland, OR.
History
Dale and Rich have been playing together for over a decade; Britt joined in 2006. After multiple unexpected vocalist changes, the frustrated members moved Rich from drums to vocals. Sound
Alien Parachute Man gleefully abandoned the rigidity of their previous incarnations and their music reflects this. Their songs are diverse and range from folk ballads (“Hymn for a Heathen”) to space rock (“The Words to Say”) to pounding metal (“Abstention”). Their live set even throws in a high speed double-bass fueled cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.” They use a variety of guitars and tunings and a wide range of percussion from timbales to the 808, courtesy of the drummer’s electronic kit.
Influences
Alien Parachute Man's musical influences include Tool, Porcupine Tree, Failure, and Dredg.
