Alison Self has been singing since she could talk. According to her grandmother, some of her first hits included renditions of "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
Alison grew up in Petersburg, VA and picked up the ukulele in December of 2005 impulsively after being inspired by Janet Klein and also growing impatient waiting for people to start bands with. She figured if she was going to start performing she was gonna have to just learn an instrument and roll with it. Alison moved to Richmond in September of 2006 and started meeting folks in the DIY music scene there. She got asked to play a few parties and house shows and things just seemed to keep rolling along after that.
She recorded a DIY CD a week before touring in April of 2009 with good friend, Elliott Sussman. Those tracks are what you will find here.
Currently Alison is traveling the US and not living anywhere. That will eventually change, though.
