Seattle-based, Italian born Guitar Virtuoso Andre Feriante updates his mastery of flamenco, classical and Brazilian traditions with original compositions, inventive arrangements and poetry.
Andre is a Segovia-trained guitar master who began his classical studies in Rome and was playing Bach and Vivaldi concerts throughout Europe by age 17. He made his debut in Rome in 1979. At age 19, he took a sabbatical from college to spend time on the beaches of Spain, where he found much inspiration in the Mediterranean surroundings. While in Spain he went to Madrid to study with maestro Andres Segovia, a major influence on the young artist's subsequent work.
Andre describes his sound as the spirit of Andalusian duende and flamenco fingering melding with Brazilian rhythms, classical elegance, and the expansiveness of jazz. The Utne Reader noted that "Feriante's solo guitar blends classical and Spanish styles in a manner guaranteed to open the hardest hearts."
Feriante debuted as a recording artist in 1990 with Remembering You, followed by Angelica in 1995, Serenade in 1997, Incantations in 2001, and Fuego de Luna in 2002. Andre Feriante's 2005 release, Bohemian Boulevard, garnered "Best World Album" from the 2005 Lifestyle Awards and charted #1.
