Fizzy Lipton on Autolite Strike's "Hit the Deck": You’d better check your insurance policy before playing this album because THIS SHIT IS ON FIRE! “Hit the Deck” is raw stripped-down rock ‘n roll for the working man; steeped in energy so heartfelt that you can smell the sweat coming out of your speakers. For their third album Autolite Strike took the most logical shortcut to capturing the spirit of their live set in the studio: recording live to four-track tape. By doing away with favored modern recording techniques, they distilled the music down to its essence – and what an essence it is. This album flat out boogies – HARD (in the John Lee Hooker sense, not the Salsoul Orchestra). If you’re not on your feet and shaking it by the third track you’d better check for a pulse, buddy. Songs like “Digging in the Ground”, “What If We Don’t Got a Lot of Money” and “Feeling of Love” not only rock your ass off, they reflect the passions and problems of the common man in modern times. Each song leaves you breathless, and they just keep coming at you until it’s all over much too soon. Punk in spirit, garage in sound, and blues in feeling, this is pure high octane rock ‘n roll at its finest.
