David and Dusty sing adventurous melodies and interesting harmonies, with lyrics about bad luck, writer's block, virtual worlds, dreams deferred, fruit preferences, arm-biting, and the planet Venus.
Songwriter David Ricardo (DRB) started releasing his unfiltered five-songs-in-a-day demos at www.bandnotb.net in late 2007. When bassist and videographer Brad Robertson (Young Moderns, The Smart Set) urged David to get a band together for a one-time performance, there were dozens of good songs to choose from. Dan Caporale took a break from making electronic beats to rock some analog drums. Jamie Osborne (Whitey On The Moon) played mellotron flutes and organ. Rob Duncan (Young Moderns, The Smart Set) sliced out guitar parts on his Rickenbacker 360. That first show in late 2008 was so fun that they decided to keep the band going. Dusty DiMercurio soon joined the group to sing harmonies, shake a tambourine, and play a little melodica to go with David's trumpet. After Rob's departure from the band in 2009, Dusty took over on guitar. Later, Amy Fowler joined on keys for one record, and Rob Duncan rejoined on bass guitar.
