Bat
1) 3-piece Thrash/punk band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 2013 by members of Municipal Waste, D.R.I., and Parasytic to name a few. 2) Bat, a.k.a. Kelly Winrich, is the pianist/percussionist of the band Delta Spirit. Bat joined Delta Spirit in 2007 thus ending his solo career and amalgamating his songs into the Delta Spirit, with lead singer/guitarist Matthew Logan Vasquez becoming the voice of Kelly's songs.     • grin hound [ grin hound is set to go out on their can't hang tour of the pacific north west this august. the band is promoting new material in preparation to record the upcoming ep "doo slop", a red in tooth and claw punk rock & roll commentary on the relationships between possession, dissociation and embodying the monsters that live inside every human. the band released a promotional video for the tour containing a preview of their new song "werewolf", a raw rhythmic punch in the face of witch cackles and wolf howls. led by bat st. chip and supported on drums by tyler tonkin, grin hound's live shows are a high velocity roller coaster. the songs expose a monstrous soul maniacally crashing about dark melodies to party punk. grin hound put out the ep “knock ma” last summer and it was called one of the most exciting releases to come out of southern oregon that year. ]

    This last weekend has been an amazing few days at The Coop.. Friday nights show was one of the coolest, and somehow smoothest house shows we've ever done.. It was a feature in both the Mercury and the WillieWeek which was a bit worrisome.. The last time that happened we had to repaint the bathroom because of asshole taggers.

You had that joke about public bathrooms and the doors on the stalls, it was kind of funnie, kind of true. a lot of people would just leave the joke, but not you, you took it to another level when you did that full commit Hong-Kong-Phooey flying force egg-drop leg chop on that imaginary stall door and flatlined your ass on stage - that's fucking funny shit man!Your first two cd's were solid and entertaining.What happened with the Madison Square Garden thing man?. You're wearing $1,600 jeans and yelling at your fans for not believing some imaginary dude floats around in the sky.. What's up man - you go on extended hypotheticals not for my entertainment so i'm sure you're just doing it to hear the sound of your own voice.I did really like you in that movie though, Dan In real Life.

    The So So Glos Postpone Portland for Prague and Poland

    One of our favorite bands, The So So Glos, have scored a sweet European tour with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.. Sweet deal for them, though that means Portland will have to wait a few more months before the return of these crowd favorites.These guys are pc-pdx crew favorites and are just flatt out hott shit!. Since their first trip to Portland back in November of 2007, these five guys have consistently impressed with their killer shows.. If you've never experienced the magic, do yourself a favor and check them out.

    PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has announced the track listing for this year's compilation and plans for the CD Release Benefit Show.. PDX Pop Now!'s recent sold-out "Make It Pop!" fundraiser saw performances by James Mercer of the Shins, Brandon Summers of the Helio Sequence, Marty Marquis of Blitzen Trapper, Ryan Sollee of The Builders & The Butchers, Loch Lomond and live video DJing by Dantronix and raised $4,000 for PDX Pop Now!.     PDX Pop Now! 2010 Compilation Track Listing

    Portland music fans will be pleased to find out that PDX Pop Now! has announced the track listing for the sixth installment of their much heralded compilation.. The 2-disc set is stacked with 40 tracks from some of Portland OR's finest musicians, including previously unreleased tracks from Menomena, Talkdemonic, Dharma Bums, Blitzen Trapper, and more.. Deelay Ceelay, Tope, The Angry Orts and The Great Mundane have been tapped to perform at this year's CD Release Benefit which will be held June 3rd at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison St.). The cover is $10 and that will include a copy of the 2010 PDX Pop Now!. Compilation CD.

    FU: The best ALL AGES venue in portland - it's new, it's the Factory Underground

    Let's start with the bad : they're north.. Wicked North.Everything else at the Factory Underground is pandas and puppies and fireworks and punk rock rainbows - this place is awesome.. Bands, coffee, cute girls running an art gallery that doesn't suck (really -it doesn't suck!), a half-pipe(?!),I grew up in small towns(s) midwest and if we weren't getting kicked out of wall-mart (the intercom is [*]+[0]+[3] by-the-way), we were sitting at Denny's, chain smoking, drinking coffee and talking about opening up the coolest place in the universe...some sort of punk rock coffee shop with half-pipes and all of our favorite bands.. It's pretty crazy just how closely the Factory Underground resembles everything i ever wanted out of being a trapped in teenager in the boring ass madwest.

    Berbati’s Pan to Discontinue Live Music in 2011

    Ohh, in case you haven't heard about this - Berbatis is going to stop hosting shows on NYE.Casey Jarmon broke this a few days ago, be sure to read the Local Cut story (Casey actually knows how to write a story and .. he also gets paid for doing it).This is a super suck because Berbatis bookers were cool enough (snaps to Matt!) to understand about and go out of their way to host ALL AGES shows. -granted not every show was AA, but no other bar takes advantage of the OLCCs title6 as often as Berbatis has over the last few years (Holocene and Rotture do it occasionally whilst hosting pdx pop now shows).

    On the eve of a new year, I thought it would be fun to get in on the “year-in-review” things that many people/publications/media-outlets do.. PC-PDX has always been a huge supporter of our endeavors at The Know, and what better forum to share this retrospective look at 2011.In chronological order:04.01 - FROM ASHES RISE / NUX VOMICA / TRAUMAThis line-up was so ridiculous that some people on message boards had concluded that our listing was an “April fools” joke...it wasn’t, and the show went down with hundreds of people cramming into our humble venue-area to catch a glimpse of Portland’s finest d-beat crushers. 06.10 - BASEMENT ANIMAL / VILE GASH (OH) / NUKKEHAMMER (OH) / SOCIETY NURSE (WA)Rarely are we able to accommodate a slew of touring-acts that can hold their own with minimal local-support.. But when you’ve got the nastiest sonic-pummeling from crew of Ohioans, and a venerable/touted neighbor from the north, support becomes less of an issue!.     East End Temporarily Closed Due to Fire

    East End is closed for at least this weekend due to the fire that took place at the Osborn Building this morning as reported by KATU.. East End will reopen as soon as possible.. How long will depend on the extent of damage inside the bar and show room.. We will keep people updated about our status through the website at www.eastendportand.com (the design of which by the way was recently updated by our good friends at DBmonkey so this is a great time to check that out!) and via these email list updates.

    pc-pdx @J - This site is alive as people want it to be since it's a WIKI that anybody can post to. ¤ ¤ The pandemic crushed everything in March 2020. I used to spend a few dozen hours per week (!) tracking shows and keeping the info updated but The Guide now has to rely on awesome homies like Schwartz/No Fun/ ++YOU++ to make use of the WIKI functionality to put the word out here. ¤ D.I.T. :: Do It Together!!
