BOMF! is a punk rock band from Portland, Oregon, that was formed in 1993. They gained attention playing their first show at The Satyricon and were invited back to play numerous times throughout 1993. The starting lineup of BOMF! was Burnt Carnage on bass and vocals, Liable More Than Likable on guitar and vocals, Mic-hole on guitar and vocals, and Garcia on drums. BOMF! played fast paced punk rock with influences of Suicidal Tendencies, The Accused, and Agent Orange. With Burnt, Liable and Mic each writing their own songs, the musical style drifted in several different directions.
In October of 1993, Garcia left the band to pursue other music. Burnt, Liable and Mic recruited Tym to play drums and moved to Sacramento, California. After about 1 month of playing with Tym, BOMF! kicked Tym out and recruited Greenup to play drums. Greenup's drumming resembled his favorite bands, Rollins Band, Mudhoney, Butthole Surfers. He played slow and heavy, which changed the band's sound considerably, although Greenup's heavy style of drumming complimented Mic-hole's song writing. The band entered the studio in 1994 and produced a demo tape called, "Don't Hate Us 'cause We're Beautiful, Hate us 'cause We Hate You". They also produced three songs which were put on a split 7" record with Witch Throttlegush (originally Witch Throttlegush and the Green Devils). BOMF! was not well received by the Sacramento music scene and found it was easier to book shows outside of the area than in town. During the two years in Sacramento, BOMF! traveled back to Portland and Seattle several times, playing shows with Witch Throttlegush, and traveled down to Bakersfield where they played shows with Cookie and Slip.
In June of 1995, after Burnt Carnage graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Sciences, BOMF! returned to Portland, Oregon. Mic-hole and Greenup opted to stay in Sacramento, so BOMF! recruited drummer Drew Scarymore to play on drums and started playing as a three piece. BOMF! quickly shed the heavy sound and began playing fast paced punk rock and incorporated chantey vocals and Oi! influences.
BOMF! was well received in the Pacific Northwest and began playing shows at Satyricon and EJ's in Portland, and the Lake Union Pub in Seattle. BOMF! also began playing parties and all ages shows on a regular basis to appeal to the younger Portland punks. During that time, BOMF! returned to the studio and produced 15 songs that were to be made into a demo tape and 7" record. With the recordings, BOMF! put together a demo tape and shopped it around Southern California. Drew was from Orange County and had contacts in the band The Offspring. Around Christmas time of 1995, BOMF! toured Southern California and Orange County, playing 7 shows in the area. When they returned to Portland, they began playing shows and working on putting together a CD, but before they could finish mastering the songs, Drew Scarymore quit the band.
In February of 1996, on the night that Drew quit, Burnt and Liable met Little Stevie, who was working the soundboard at Satyricon. Little Stevie offered to fill on drums and Burnt and Liable accepted. Shortly thereafter, they added Big Scotty as a second guitarist/singer/song writer. Big Scotty originally came from Spokane, Washington, and had played in many bands before that. Scotty brought a pop-punk sound to the band which worked well with the Oi! style songs and the fast paced songs. The band began playing shows in Seattle, Spokane, and Wenatchee. During that time, Burnt Carnage and Liable began also playing in Jr. Samples, a rockabilly band from Portland.
With Big Scotty, Burnt Carnage, Liable More Than Likable and Little Stevie, BOMF! headed into the studio and recorded twelve songs, some of which were new and some of which were re-recorded versions of old BOMF! songs. BOMF! produced the demo tape "Fuck the Pigs" and planned for a tour during the summer of 1997. In July of 1997, BOMF! toured through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California.
After completing their first big tour, BOMF! kicked Little Stevie out of the band and recruited Jim from the band 3 Out Of 4 to take over on drums. BOMF! returned to the studio and recorded songs for several compilation CD's and returned to playing shows in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. During that time, BOMF's members were also involved in different bands. Big Scotty also played in Motherload and Elmer. Liable and Burnt played in Jr. Samples. Jim played in a side project called the Blue Ribbon Boys. Even though the members were active in other bands, BOMF! continued to play regularly.
In late 1998, Jim quit BOMF! and Dylan, from Trophywife, took over. BOMF! played a number of shows around the Pacific Northwest and recorded two songs for two compilations (Punk's Not Dead: A Tribute To The Exploited, and Meatmen Tribute: We're Not The Meatmen, But We Still Suck!). As 1999 came to a close, Big Scotty, Liable and Dylan decided to call it quits. They informed Burnt as they prepared for the last show at EJ's, and then announced it on stage that they were quitting the band.
In the summer of 2007, Big Scotty, Liable, and Burnt decided to play a reunion show. They recruited Dylan to play drums and set aside a date to play. Liable put together a limited edition CD called "BOMF! 1993-1999: 8 Years Too Late", which included many of the songs they recorded over the years. They recruited long time friends 800 Octane and Lopez to play with them and played at The Tonic Lounge in Portland, Oregon. The show was successful and BOMF! decided to play another show the following summer with Hammered Grunts at the Centaur Guitar Summer Parking Lot Show. Since then, BOMF! has considered reuniting for another round of shows and possibly a tour of the Pacific Northwest.
