Hidden beneath a world of textures and sounds there lies gold and true expression. San Diego trio Chairs Missing is currently putting
forth an energy of supernatural psych-pop using elements of the natural human self. Their latest 7" "To The Hills" not only has
reached a prolific sense of organic identity, but also has achieved an innate display of honest and true pristine harmonies.
Paul Remund's rhythm guitar and vocals exemplify a very eclectic musical exposure--with experiences of spiritual drifts though 90s
grunge to early contemporary jazz. Remund's experimentation in sounds are limitless and are now projecting a timeless theme
which now proceeds his long path of collaborations and other projects from the San Diego area. In an effort to attain a personal and
immersive contentment, Chairs Missing has emerged.
Violinist Julia Kim's daunting orchestral additions soon presented themselves after meeting Paul at a local concert one night, and it
wasn't much time until this collaboration began to form a strong and emotive pathway. In another local music endeavor the two run
into Riain Hager who later reveals his experience in lead guitar thus adding another element of phonetic composition to the band.
With adorations from early brit-pop his individual sound is semi-recognizable with that of a nu-gaze presence. The bass presence in Chairs Missing is accented by
Brandon Cardwell whose elemental basis is via manipulation. Acting as a synth element the bass is a subtle but intrinsic use of fxs that expands the theme to new depths.
After much situational and sometimes even personal defragmentation, Chairs Missing's sound had undergone a metamorphic
transformation. With changing members, emerged a need for a reconsidered sound. With the absence of Julia, who resigned and
moved off to San Francisco--the band was then faced with the decision to shift to a tough but ecstatic feel. A major turning point in
the dynamic of Chairs Missing's initial sound.
On single "To The Hills" Chairs Missing craft a gorgeous sun-soaked jangle interpreting the dark matter of human existence, rippling
and coming-forth from within. Remund's hymn displays the intimacy of loss, acceptance and personal expressionism.
For now they are planning to rehearse and recluse into Remunds art space in San Diego to record new gems in an all encompassing
experience that will be worked into a a full length album set to drop later this year.
