Corpsekisser began during the tumultuous summer of 2004. Inspired by the nostalgia soaked creepiness of child-voiced horror movie soundtracks (Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, “1, 2, Freddy’s coming for you”), the duo of Heather Anderson and Ethan Swan intended to document that year with sufficiently troubled songs. Heather and Ethan are able to channel the unhinged euphorics of early 90's Siltbreeze acts only with a male/female tandem vocal and haziness that pulls "Twin Infinitives" era Trux into your mind. At times disembodied, at times frantic, their voices lurk among the sounds of glockenspiel, guitar, dollar-store keyboard and toy piano. After several years of DIY shows in Portland and New York, Corpsekisser proudly released their debut record "Cry Laughing" in 2010 on Life Like. Recalling the deliberated, mundane dread of the Shadow Ring’s early bedroom days or perhaps an undead version of Brigitte Fontaine & Areski’s musical wandering, “Cry Laughing” is a haunted, opaque, and occasionally gentle album.
