1. Curse (born 6 September 1978 as Michael S. Kurth) is a German rapper from Minden. His stage name derives from the English pronunciation of his surname. He was active musically from a young age, performing songs such as "Zwei Mal In Den Kopf" with his band Phat Kicks in the 1990s. His debut album "Feuerwasser" (2000) presented introspective lyrics addressing personal experiences alongside conventional hip-hop themes; production on this and other releases was frequently handled by Sascha Bühren, known as Busy. His second album "Von Innen Nach Außen" (2001) continued this approach, and its lead single "Lass uns doch Freunde sein" received attention beyond the hip-hop scene. The album was named Best National Album by the German hip-hop magazine Juice and reached the top ten of the German charts, also receiving a release in Japan. On his third album "Innere Sicherheit", he incorporated a wider range of instrumentation and explored political and social themes alongside personal topics; the single "Widerstand" featured Gentleman. Through collaborations and his platform Alles Real Records, he supported emerging artists such as Italo Reno and worked with numerous performers including Kool Savas, Xavier Naidoo, Max Herre of Freundeskreis, Samy Deluxe, J-Luv, Braz of 4Lyn, Patrice, Black Thought of The Roots, Pete Rock, and RZA. His fourth album "Sinnflut" (2005) included the charting single "Gangsta Rap" and featured tracks such as "Broken Language Reloaded" with Samy Deluxe. A collaborative project with Swiss artists including Greis and members of Sektion Chuchichästli resulted in a full-length album recorded during a shared studio period. In 2006, he issued the compilation "Einblick zurück", covering material from 1996 to 2006.
