Dan Reed Network are a funk-rock band from Portland, Oregon.
They formed in 1984 with singer/guitarist Dan Reed, guitarist Brion James, bassist Melvin Brannon II, drummer Dan Pred and keyboardist Rick DiGuiarllonado. In 1987, DiGuiarllonado was replaced by Blake Sakamoto. The band released studio albums Dan Reed Network (1988), Slam (1989), and The Heat (1991) before their unofficial breakup in 1993. According to Songfacts, they drew comparisons to Lenny Kravitz and Living Colour, got great reviews, and opened for The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi. They sold nearly 2 million albums before calling it quits.
The band were renowned to their fans as excellent live performers, and they capitalised on this by releasing a two-disc live album (Live At Last! Halfway Around The World) in 1997.
Dan Reed Network reformed and have released Fight Another Day (2016), Origins (2018), and Let's Hear It for the King (2022), with new keyboardist Rob Daiker replacing Sakamoto in 2015.
