They have supported acts such as Band of Horses, Rebirth Brass Band, What Cheer? Brigade, Millions of Brazilians, Leann Rimes, and My Brightest Diamond.
DPMB was founded in 2009 by Rachel Harkai and siblings John & Molly Notarianni, who felt inspired by the second-line bands they saw in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, and the activist street bands they saw at HONK!. The band's repertoire is a mix of Balkan and Balkan-inspired songs, various tunes from around the world, and modern pop and R&B rearranged for brass, usually by the members themselves. They even cover a Viking metal version of a German disco song. In early 2014, the group toured the Netherlands as part of the Cross-Linx festival, supporting the performances of their patron saint, Shara Worden. They enjoy the admiration of their mothers, each other, and numerous drunks in Detroit and around the world.
