Edessa is a San Francisco Bay Area ethnic folk music band that plays Balkan dance music. They incorporate elaborate time signatures characteristic of the Balkans and trance-like pentatonic strains. Combining traditional and modern instruments, they play a variety of styles with elements of Rom (Gypsy music), Greek, Armenian and Bulgarian fusion music. They travel internationally and play events ranging from weddings to folk dance camps and workshops.
