Born in New York City, Eric ventured west to San Francisco from Albuquerque NM in the early 1990's after the breakup of his punky psychedelic wastrel trio band The Angry Babies, McFadden soon found himself fronting an acclaimed gypsy Americana desert rock quartet with prominent violin called Liar. Stints playing in bluesy pick up groups like The Faraway Brothers and many late night jam sessions led to a long running spot as guitarist and mandolin player in funk maestro George Clinton's P-Funk All Stars road revue. He toured for 18 months with Eric Burdon.
In addition, Eric McFadden has worked with many top artists like Les Claypool, Nels Cline, Widespread Panic, Bo Diddley, Jackson Browne, Joe Strummer, Keb Mo, Reverend Horton Heat and members of The Meters, among others.
Eric McFadden as a solo artist lyrically often explores a dark and freaky circus like landscape populated with frustrated oddballs, and embellishes these tales with guitar playing that quotes icons like Django Reinhardt as easily as Eddie Hazel. His latest album, "Bluebird on Fire", is a crossover between dirty blues, stoner-rock and hard soul. The album features members of such groups as Fishbone, Eagles of Death Metal, Cake, WSP and Tom Waits. Eric continues to tour internationally both solo, and with his group, the Eric McFadden Trio and Stockholm Syndrome.
