“ Evil is the best new voice in Canadian rap.” - EXCLAIM MAGAZINE The followers of EVIL have been waiting for this defining moment for a long time. At last, their almost saintly patience is about to be rewarded. His new E.P. THE WANDERER is being released this Fall. The songs are at once haunting and eclectic – soulful and at times almost psychedelic. His lyrics evoke themes that are painfully personal yet universal in appeal. A new alter ego EVIL EBENEEZER comes to life on this recording which can accurately be described as the antidote to normal/mainstream. A scary and strange aural brew is created as Stu Ray’s beats provide the ideal sonic foil for Evil’s story telling. The catchy rhythm tracks are accentuated by reverb delays in unexpected places. THE WANDERER will surprise and challenge you. It may even change you. *PAST*: EVIL met Stu Ray, co-founder of the Draftdodgers team in high school, back in the day. It was in those early days at Ray’s in faraway Chilliwack, during the wicked 90’s, that EVIL first discovered his innate ability to improvise/rap and his love of Hip-Hop music. These two musical strands have continued to define the core of his music. Today it remains sinfully easy to get caught up in the hypnotic web EVIL weaves. 2005 marked the independent release of the debut album THE DRAFTDODGERS PRESENT EVIL which was nominated for “Best Hip-Hop/Rap Music Album” at the 2005 West Coast Music Awards. The album was supported by three music videos including “Told You So” which play-listed on MUCHMUSIC and garnered EVIL a LEO award for “ Best Music Video for 2006” at the annual B.C. Film Industry night. Vaughn Oliver a.k.a. DJ U-Turn joined the group at this time and one of his own songs appears on THE WANDERER. The summer of 2006 saw the rising Canadian rap artist release CALL ME EVIL on Camobear Records, backed up by a 50 City U.S. tour with labelmate Josh Martinez. The album charted in the Top Ten for 8 solid weeks. College radio airplay was intense with the hilarious “Liquor Store” track getting huge spins on DJ Law’s Hip-Hop radio show on 89.5 FM in Toronto. The song “ Ha Ha Ha” has received over 10,000 plays on EVIL’s myspace website (www.myspace.com/evildraftdodgers ). EVIL toured with Sweatshop Union this past summer and just came off the Ra the Rugged Man tour. His high-energy shows continue to electrify audiences whenever and wherever they seek out EVIL. *FUTURE*: ( We can believe in ) EVIL will be touring with Ausies Bliss N Eso in December in support of THE WANDERER. ( See myspace site for Tour Dates ). And ZZBRA, a project with Vancouver artist MOKA, is due out in 2009 on Urbnet Records. As if his plate was not full enough, EVIL fans can expect to see a brand new solo album in 2009 as well.
