He is most known for forming the alternative rock/post-hardcore band Thursday in 1997, which got its start playing basement shows in New Brunswick and surrounding New Jersey and New York areas. Musicians who have taken part in the project include Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw and Head Automatica and Converge drummer Ben Koller. The lineup for their performances in January 2013 includes David Haik (the drummer of Pianos Become the Teeth) and another unidentified guitarist from the band. Geoff Rickly has been playing solo shows and released two mixtapes: Mixtape 1 and Darker Matter/// Mixtape 2. Both mixtapes are available at http://geoffrickly.bandcamp.com.
