Ghost Shirt Society was immaculately conceived in a big little city in Florida when its progenitors were waiting for their bus after school. The original goal was acoustic spontaneity. The very first recording was a jazzy version of the Windmill Hut theme from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, featuring an elephant shaped keyboard.
The two moms, Helen and Claire, have only ever written one song together (if you don't count a certain ridiculous rap endeavor from the summer of 2008), but they've had many a good time playing covers for the patrons of local coffeehouses. They once performed "I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire" for Koji, who is an incredible musician that everyone needs to listen to. Other notable covers include Tegan and Sara's "Living Room" and Animal Collective's "My Girls," which can be found on their Facebook page.
The band is currently split in half due to college obligations. When Helen returns from abroad, it's highly likely that more Ghost Shirt Society antics will unfold. In the meantime, Claire plays sad acoustic music by her forever alone self under the name Twin Compass. Helen also goes by Spirochaete. Stay tuned for shenanigans!
