2) Gordi (Serbian Cyrillic: Горди; trans. The Proud Ones) is a Serbian and Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1977.
1) Gordi is Australian indie-pop singer-songwriter Sophie Payten (born 28 December 1992) based in Sydney. Raised in the small farming community of Canowindra in Australia’s New South Wales, amongst a minuscule population of 2381, Payten learned to play piano and guitar in her house — with Billy Joel on near-constant rotation. She left the rural life in her late-teens to pursue a medical education in Sydney alongside her musical career.
She was nominated for a triple J J Award and 2 FBi SMAC Awards in 2015, on top of being named triple j Unearthed’s most played artist during 2015.
Her debut album, "Reservoir", released on 25 August 2017, was co-produced by Payten in part with Alex Somers in his studio in Iceland, Tim Anderson in Los Angeles and Ali Chant in New York City.
In January 2020, Payten released her first single in almost three years called "The Cost".
In May 2022, Payten released the single "Way I Go" from her EP "Inhuman", which was released on 19 August 2022.
In March 2023, Gordi released "Broke Scene".
2) Gordi (Serbian Cyrillic: Горди; trans. The Proud Ones) is a Serbian and Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1977 by guitarist Zlatko Manojlović, a former "Džentlmeni", "Fleš" and "Dah" member.
The first line-up of the band also featured Stevan Milutinović (drums), a former "Dogovor iz 1804", "Moira" and "Dah" member, Goran Manojlović (keyboards), a former "Dah" and "Land" member, and Dragan Janković (bass guitar), a former "Buket Mojih Prijatelja" member.
On their five studio albums, Manojlović is a complete songwriter.
The band developed and changed their musical style over the years, having started as progressive rock band, then turning to rock-hard rock sound and ending up as Heavy Metal band.
Although studio albums "Pakleni trio" ("Hell Trio") and "Kraljica smrti" ("Queen of Death") are considered truly Heavy Metal oriented, these are the albums for which Gordi are generally most known.
The line-up for these two albums was:
Zlatko Manojlović - guitar, vocal
Slobodan Svrdlan - bass, backing vocals
Čedomir Petrović - drums, backing vocals
In 1979 the band won the first place at the international rock festival in Poznań. The band disbanded in 1984, after Manojlović released his first solo album "Zlatko".
In 2024, Manojlović reformed Gordi. The new lineup featured, beside Zlatko Manojlović, his son Todor Manojlović (guitar, bass guitar), Marko Terlević (bass guitar), Dalibor "Dado" Marinković (drums), and Berislav "Bero" Blažević (keyboards), the latter two also being full-time members of Parni Valjak. The new lineup recorded and released the group's comeback, mostly hard rock-oriented album Fenix through Croatia Records. All the songs were authored by Manojlović.
