Her Ghost, from Portland, Oregon, began as a collaboration between singer/songwriter Danielle Ross and multi-instrumentalist producer Todd Bayles, who played all of the instruments on the album. Their music is dark, melodic, textured and beautiful, while still remaining rough around the edges. Their self-titled debut CD was released in August of 2012.

Having met at a popular Portland open mic, the two founding members originally bonded over their mutual love for producer/composer Jon Brion. The band's name is both a tribute to the musician who brought them together and is also a good description of their sound. Past meets present, sweet meets disturbing, and strength emerges from pain. Her Ghost strive to use their unique musical qualities to combine powerful storytelling with the highest quality of musicianship.
Todd Bayles is a busy musician and producer whose resumé is a veritable who's-who of the Portland music scene, including Tony Furtado, Dirty Martini, Stephanie Schneiderman, Eric John Kaiser, Pete Krebs and his Portland Playboys, and The Sale. He produced, recorded and played on a song (Young Immortals, "The Fever") that found its way onto a Starbucks CD. He also conducted an interview and wrote an article for TapeOp magazine about the popular Portland band Menomena. He’s produced CD's by the Fenbi International Superstars, Andrea Wellard, the Young Immortals, Crystin Byrd, and Jacob Ray.
Danielle has been a musician since she was five years old, and she started her first band (for which she wrote her first song) at the ripe old age of seven. A classically trained singer and pianist, Danielle received her college degree in theater performance. Since then, she has performed in a myriad of professional theater productions, films, and commercials, and she has discovered the perfect way to share her own unique voice. Nowhere before Her Ghost has Danielle found a project that was a perfect blend of all of or her great loves; music, writing, singing, and performing.
