I Am the Arm was founded in January 2006 under the name of Cyclic Suicides, writing and recording two songs: "We've Got No Time" (a post punk rant at popular culture) and Take This Lump of Sugar Little Girl You Know You Want It (an obscure experimental colaberation with joy rides). This line up consisted of Cyan (Guitar, Vocals, Drum Machine) and Aimee (Bass Synth, Bass). They developed their style as a two piece aiming more towards electronic music until the entrance of a drummer. May 2006 saw the entrance of Twitchy the Ratbag, a raucous punk drummer with jazz influences. This saw the band take shape as an outfit rather than a project. The songs Umbrella Etiquette, Sea of Plastic Culture, Passing Glance of a Stranger and Porceleine and Clay were polished up from the dingy beginnings of drum machines and bedroom rehearsals into fully fledged songs. Rehearsals took place regularly until the first gig at the Tube Club in Boston Arms on the 31st of July 2006, supporting Joy Rides, a band that highly influenced I Am the Arm through to their hiatus in September 2006. Several gigs with the Tube Club followed along with gigs at the legendary birthplace of the Clash, Inn on the Green, and the renowned venue, the Good Ship. 2007 I Am the Arm spent the time between new years and January 20th rehearsing for their first real recording session in Peak Recording Studios, the outcome was then used as their first self released record, the "Umbrella Etiquette E.P.". Only 100 were released and each were number 1-100. The tracklisting is as follows: 1. Umbrella Etiquette 2. Passing Glance of a Stranger 3. Sea of Plastic Culture 4. Porcelain and Clay 5. A Light On February 10th I Am the Arm played the renowned Camden barfly to the largest audience yet, bringing many new fans. I Am the Arm continue to grow. In July 2007 the 6 track 'There Are Some People' E.P was recorded, once again at peak recording studios. The recordings have at present been released free via the bands myspace page and through some p2p file sharing sites. The addition of Kane, an elegant visual influenced bassist in august 2007 allowed the band to explore a further depth in their sound including more synthesizer and guitar to new material. In late 2007 I Am the Arm were signed to DECASIAN RECORDS. In January 2008 I Am the Arm played Dice Club with NEiLS CHiLDREN and SILHOUETTE, getting a good response from the crowd and ever continuing to grow. Unfortunately Twitchy (Drums) left the band in March 2008. I Am the Arm canceled all shows and look for a drummer. I Am the Arm are joined by Peter Judson on drums in May 2008. After some time past and it was late August 2008, Kane left the band, due to other commitments. I Am the Arm eventually collapsed in November 2008 after two performances (Offset Festival and Punk).
