A child with cephalopelvic disproportion was born unto two unsuspecting and young parents. His name was Branden Clarke (IG88) and he was to live in a small redneck town on the outskirts of Seattle WA. At the age of 10 he was given an old beat up classical guitar. Leading him down a road of adolescent confusion inspiring musical expression and eventually more instruments.
He soon found himself infatuated with all kinds of recording in late 2003 when a local alternative High School had small Pro Tools based studios. He continued education in MIDI and audio production. Soon purchasing an MPC and realizing his creative flow programming with pads and obscure vinyl samples. Inspired by Science Fiction, video games, specific succubus women and caffeine, he documents his life journey. Combining field recordings, organic instruments and meticulously programmed synthesizers.
IG88 creates beats over synthetic babies breath and a type of glitchy atmospheric trip hop over distant vocals. Illustrating audio soundscapes of depressed droids twisting knobs and poking pads to construct generic stuffed animal vending machines. Collaboration with artist Ricky Wilson can be found on IDMF003 - Mind Tree. IG88’s debut album Bacta Tank will be released in 2009.
