Jennifer Robin is a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and recording artist who
has been performing her very personal form of jazz/folk music for 30
years. She started composing at the young age of 10. Her first song was a
dramatic piano piece entitled “Children In An Orphanage”. At 15 she saw
Joni Mitchell perform, got her first guitar which her boyfriend stole for
her, and the rest as they say, is history. Being almost entirely self taught
she listened to all kinds of music. Some pivotal artists for her were John
Martyn, Pentangle, Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter and the group Oregon.
Her uniquely titled debut Fish Up A Tree was released worldwide in 1991
on Denon/A&M Records and received critical acclaim, strong airplay on
Jazz, College, Wave and National Public radio and was voted one of the
Top Ten Favorite Adult Alternative Releases in the radio trade magazine
The Gavin Report. Her second CD Eye Of The Storm was released in
Japan and Southeast Asia in 1996 on Pony Canyon Records, and was
given the highest rating in Stereo Magazine and 4 1/2 stars in Swing
Journal. She then released her third CD Nonodey in 2000 on her own
label Risky Robin Records and received glowing reviews.
After the release of her CD she was diagnosed with an illness that took
her on a very different kind of journey, but she never stopped writing
music. In 2005 Nonodey got distribution on Rhombus Records and is
now available online and in stores. She has put together a new acoustic
trio and looks forward to performing soon at a spot near you. Jennifer
has toured in both the U.S. and Japan.
