Kelsey’s music is a product of her travels around the globe and her study of the world of ancient times and people. As such, her ethereal piano ballads, love stories and dreamlike narratives reflect on worlds known and worlds forgotten, infusing her music with transcendent depth.
Although a musician from an early age, the inspiration for her unique sound and songs began at the University of Liverpool while studying Egyptian archaeology. It was the grandeur and solitude of an ornate room with high ceilings, large paintings and two grand pianos that moved her to compose the music that was to become her debut album The Reading Room.
After completing her MA in osteoarchaeology,
Kelsey now resides in Portland, Oregon.
The album
The Reading Room is a collection of stories about life, love, dilemmas of the modern world and days of old. Some songs are clearly understood, whilst others are more ”impressionistic”, conveying a feeling and inviting the listener to finish the thought. Her inspiration comes from ancient writings, classic books, experiences abroad, sad goodbyes and the musings of her own heart.
This album is a beautiful journey touching both heart and soul.
