Kid Congo Powers (Brian Tristan) was a founding member of The Gun Club. He was in The Cramps during the making of Psychadelic Jungle and on the subsequent tours. He later re-joined The Gun Club, and later appeared as a Bad Seed in Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He even enjoyed a brief stint playing guitar in support of The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. He was a punk-rock pioneer in his time, forming L.A.'s Ramones fanclub as a teen, sleeping on Lydia Lunch's couch for a time when he first moved to New York City

Kid Congo Powers (Brian Tristan) was a founding member of The Gun Club. He was in The Cramps during the making of Psychadelic Jungle and on the subsequent tours. He was a punk-rock pioneer in his time, forming L.A.'s Ramones fanclub as a teen, sleeping on Lydia Lunch's couch for a time when he first moved to New York City, & flatmating with Nick Cave & (then girlfriend) Anita Lane.
His new project, The Pink Monkey Birds, revisits the styles of all these groups and also allows Powers a nod to his Mexican heritage. Influences from the 1980s, such as Boney M., also emerge. Powers' voice sounds like a mash-up of Lux Interior, Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, and other '70s punk figures like Patti Smith & Jim Carroll of The Jim Carroll Band.
