There is more than one artist with this name:
1) Madison was the first band for young Swedish singer Goran Edman, who later sang for Yngwie Malmsteen and several other hard rock acts. Initially formed as Regent in 1983, the band switched their name to Madison sometime later in 1983. Their debut LP "Diamond Mistress" was released the following year in 1984; the material was in the melodic hard rock/heavy metal sphere. The band seemingly vanished sometime around 1989-1990, but have since reformed in 2019.
2) Madison is a pop singer from Miami based in New York. She has released 'The Noise Some People Make', 'We've been nothing' and 'The Remixes Some People Make' through her own label G Records. In May 2014 she released the follow up 'In the bright light' which features the single Start a fire.
3) Madison was a New Jersey-based post-hardcore and later more pop punk band. They were active from 2001 until their split in late 2006 after their relationship with their then label Rushmore Records took a turn for the worse. Madison claimed Rushmore neglected them as a band and didn't listen to their repeated requests for them to be sent to the studio to record a full length, demos of new material having already been submitted but apparently ignored by Rushmore. Rushmore responded by saying that the band were too demanding and had exaggerated their claims. After trying to leave the label to find another to release their next record through but being unable to do so due to contract issues, the band split. Rushmore's parent label Drive-Thru Records apparently threatened the band with personal lawsuits when they put their side of the story with regards to their split on their Myspace page. While active, Madison released one EP "For the First Time in Years, I'm Leaving you" and played many shows in the US.
Bio from their Myspace in 2006:
"After three years as a band, Madison signs with RUSHMORE RECORDS , sister label to DRIVE THRU RECORDS . With an upcoming full length due out 2006, madison has a long history as a band.
Fronted by singer Steve Pic, Madison hit the VFW Hall Circuit of New Jersey hard from the beginning. Starting by playing small shows across New Jersey and the tri-state area, Madison impressed audiences wherever they went. With guitarists Brandon Pecoraro and Jim Colleary, keyboardist Dennis Ortega, bassist Jonathan Snyder, and drummer Rich Dieckhoff, Madison did whatever it took to make a new fan. Armed with nothing other than their love for music, and passion for their live performance, the 6-piece soon made a strong name for themselves.
Getting nothing handed to them easily, Madison had to work for everything. Hitting the studio with their small budget, Madison recorded the “Almost Gone Today” Demo. This demo featured three only tracks and quickly sold out at shows. With the great response to their music, Madison entered the studio again and recorded a demo version of “How Can I Run.” While this song was available for download on the late Mp3.com, it earned them an astounding 180,000 plays, twice a front-page featured band spot, and even personal recognition from the CEO of Mp3.com. Along with this accomplishment, Madison earned themselves the number 1 spot on the Mp3.com Alternative charts for the entire country and number 14 on all of Mp3.com. In addition to this, Madison has been the number 4 most viewed unsigned band on all of Purevolume.com.
Gaining fans everywhere they played, Madison landed the opening spot on New Jersey’s Skate and Surf Festival 2003 where they played for thousands of people. Soon after Madison embarked on their first east-coast tour. With a great summer for Madison coming to an end, they finished it off by landing a spot playing the final date on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour. This being an unbelievable performance, Madison was amazed with the position they had worked to get themselves into in just one short year.
Never stopping to move up to the next level, Madison hit the studio with producer Jesse Canon (The Cure, Limp Bizkit, Senses Fail, The Misfits, A Static Lullaby) in January 2004 to record their debut EP “For The First Time In Years...I’m Leaving You.” With 7 diverse songs, “For The First Time In Years...I’m Leaving You,” is hard to place into a single genre. With catchy tracks such as “How Can I Run,” and “Missing Since March 11th” along with acoustic song “I’ve Got Fives,” this record will leave the listener singing along to every word.
Now centered on touring full-time, Madison is playing non-stop across the United States. Playing on two weeks of the 2004 Vans Warped Tour and earning a spot on the first ever Purevolume.com and Absolutepunk.net tour, Madison is showing to audiences everywhere that this band is definitely something to keep an eye out for.Since the release of their debut E.P, Madison is now centered on touring full-time, playing non-stop across the United States. Since June of 2004, Madison has gone on nine national tours including the 2004 Vans Warped tour and the first ever Purevolume.com and Absolutepunk.net tour featuring Drive Thru Records’ Hidden in Plain View and Hellogoodbye, and a tour headlined by Vagrant Records’ Senses Fail, playing for crowds sized around 1,500 people every night. With a list of endorsements featuring Hamer Guitars, DR Strings, and C&C; Custom Drums, along with selling over 4,000 copies of their debut EP by themselves without any major distribution, Madison is proud of where they are standing. As easily seen in their audience appeal, Madison is showing people across the nation that this band is definitely something to keep an eye out for."
