1. Madrid (Brazilian duo)
Adriano Cintra met Marina Vello back in 2006 when they both played with their previous projects, Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS) and Bonde Do Rolê. Marina left Bonde do Role in 2008, Adriano left CSS in 2011. Marina lives in London, Adriano in São Paulo. By the end of 2011 Marina came to São Paulo for a week and they managed to write a couple of songs. It felt special so they decided they had to write a whole album. February 2012 Marina comes back to São Paulo for two months, mission accomplished. They wrote and produced Madrid, the album. The band.
2. Madrid (Canadian electronic-pop)
The BBC hailed MADRID's 2004 debut Warm Waters (Aporia/Universal) as "the indie record Boards of Canada never made". Rubbing stage shoulders with international touring acts UNKLE, M83, ULRICH SCHNAUSS and FRIENDLY FIRES, receiving heavy radio and video rotation, and critical acclaim in their native land of Canada and abroad, MADRID are well respected indie/electronic scene heroes.
In 2007 MADRID released their 2007 follow up EP ---First Message---. Featuring remixes by German shoegaze heaveyweight Ulrich Schnauss (to be included on his 2010 Best-Of collection), and hometown peers vitaminsforyou and The Cansecos, it was a first glimpse into what can be expect from their highly anticipated 2010 LP '---Original Message---' (YYZ Records/FontanaNorth).
---Original Message--- combines club-worthy dance tracks and late-night slow jams that raise both the hands and the heart. The range of influences here is vast - you can hear traces of past greats like Jesus and Mary Chain and Stone Roses alongside experimental Aphex Twin and 808 State, filtered through contemporaries like Royksopp and M83.
Co-writers and producers Duncan Christie and Adam Perry weigh in. "I think a lot of artists set out to create a certain sound because it's easier...on this album we didn't really worry about that. We didn't discriminate when creating this music - we did't try to fit into a specific genre or style. If something moved us and influenced us at some point in our lives, chances are it'll come out in what we do...we just try to keep ourselves open" says Christie.
The result is not only inspired, but stunning. Their unforgettable electronic sound continually proves that MADRID are clearly ahead of their time.
"Toronto psych-tronic duo Madrid don't so much produce music as let it percolate-- the sounds drip and ripple until the cumulative effect is ocean-sized. Their heady electro-pop is indicative of a band that's got one foot on the dancefloor and the other in the chill-out room"
- Pitchfork.com
"It's truly amazing when electronic music sounds organic and alive, and Madrid, like Caribou and M83, simply ooze this vibe."
Jeremy Shaw, The Gazette
3. Madrid (French band)
Dominique Deyremez, Joel Galinski and Guilhem Granier know what they want. The release of the superb “Night Clubber” in 1998 has put Madrid under the projectors of an unexpected media recognition. This first album recorded on a 4 tracks, first output of the small label “les disques Serpentine” (partly founded buy Guilhem) was handicapped by a limited distribution but still, was acclaimed by all of the press.
madrid has never deserved its name more than it does today. Not that their music became Spanish overnight, but this eponymous album manages to absorb the listener in a languor which could be described as Mediterranean. it generates an atmosphere of “dolce vita” using light compositions in its instrumental parts (except for Magree, lit by the Italian chant of Anne Poirier) and the smooth arrangements which leaves the upper hand to acoustics instruments.
In their interviews, Madrid’s member evoked already the desire to come back to more acoustics sounds, they do not want to be stuck in a systematic use of the sampler. And this second and last album shows that they didn’t change their mind even though they have since multiplied the projects and collaborations.

4. Madrid is an Experimental Band that was short lived from Bremerton, Washington.
5. Gustavo Madrid doesn´t need too much introduction. He´s the creative force of several musical projects since his school days: No Mercy, Black Velvet, Maten al Disc-Jockey, Su Real Orden, 69 am, Mutantes Melancólicos, Asustados Unidos and finally, NO:ID.
Singer. Guitar player. Sometimes, keyboard player. With certain interest on digital instruments, where he finds versatility and the possibility of breaking through. Always, songwriter and composer of a music hard to put a label on.
Even though he´s got soft manners and a good education, he´s rampant, stubborn and untamable. He can be bored of his successes, but he´s never bored when he explores and experiments new ways of making music. He prefers a song composed on a single loop rather than a song that repeats past accomplishments.
On his lyrics he doesn´t want to tell stories; he leaves that to a short story or to a novel.. For his songs, he prefers sentences that act like lashes, images, ideas; that are musical, without a complete or obvious sense and, if it´s possible, the ones that can awaken questions to be left unanswered.
Madrid owns an enviable record collection. He listens to music since he wakes up in the morning until he goes back to bed at night. He collects records since his teenage years. He affirms that when he didn´t have enough money to buy new records he tried hard to get onto the busses without paying the fare; so he could save, within a couple of weeks, some money to buy another vinyl record.
One of his passions is record´s cover art. He believes that the moment he takes out the record form the envelope to put it on the audio chain is pure magic and that most of that magic comes from the graphic art giving sense to the whole oeuvre.
