Matt Day (Midge) singer-songwriter from Leicestershire, United Kingdom. Matt’s main choice of instrument is the guitar. He started out on the scene with quite a bang during the spring of 1989, where he was the leading force behind the formation of the grunge 3-piece act Scum Pups.
His debut gig with Scum Pups was on a frosty night in November of the same year, at The Magazine pub, Leicester, supporting Scalpt. This project proved to be a relative success, culminating in the release of 2 Albums and 3 vinyl e.p. singles. The mini album Babykill held a two week spot at No.17 on the Melody Maker ‘Indie’ Album charts, in April 1992.
By February of 1994, the Scum Pups project ended, but it wasn’t long before he embarked on forming another 3-piece rock outfit by the name of Fast Orange. Little was recorded during this time but gigs took place in and around the Midlands, until they too split in 1997. It was during 1998 that Matt joined the satirical act called Smartarse which eventually morphed into Icke involving Kevin Tucker in 2001. However, after 3 years activity, Matt decided to give it a rest, and hasn’t been seen on the music scene since, but he has maintained a presence with Roger "Dodge" Watson and his project The Kings Of Frog Island, of which he featured as a listed artist on the second album II, released in 2008.
