Mono/Poly (born Charles Dickerson) is a Los Angeles based multi-genre music producer known for his distinct madness of face melting bass, paired with his astral soundscapes of glitch-based hip-hop. His music alias is taken from the 1980s Korg keyboard and symbolizes the artist's multifaceted audio productions.
In the fall of 2009, Mono/Poly released his debut album The George Machine (EP) on Faces Records. The album received rave reviews and strong support/play by Busy P/Pedro Winter (Ed Banger) Gaslamp Killer, and Benji B. Following a year later in the spring of 2010, his first full-length solo album, Paramatma (Tasteful Licks) was released. Paramatma is an elemental journey mixed of dub-step beats, astral soundscapes, Eastern philosophy, Metaphysics, and politics. In 2011, Mono/Poly joined the record label Brainfeeder and made a strong debut with his Manifestations EP. The album has seven tracks, each belonging to its own tone, and continues to receive heavy rotation by the likes of Radiohead, Erykah Badu and Jay Scarlett at BBC Radio’s 1XTRA.
After causing a stir with The George Machine EP and the widely supported Manifestations release on Brainfeeder, Californian beat-maker Mono/Poly presents his long awaited long player Golden Skies. Thoroughly cosmic, Mono/Poly’s laid back beats are as much an exercise in mind expansion as they are hazy hip-hop chill. Space age bleeps, sailing textures and loose drum work combines on the heady ‘Ra Rise’ whereas ‘Empyrean’ takes on a more downtempo, harrowed feel, owed in part to vocalist Mendee Ichikawa’s ghostly vocals.
