Monstrosity is an American death metal band formed in 1990 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as part of the Florida death metal scene. The founding members were drummer Lee Harrison, bassist Mark Van Erp, and vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher. Harrison has remained the only constant member, with Edwin Webb serving as the current vocalist and Van Erp rejoining the band in 2021 after leaving in 1995.
Monstrosity released their debut album "Imperial Doom" in 1992 through Nuclear Blast, featuring contributions from Jason Gobel of Cynic, although he was not an official member. The band toured Europe in support of the album as a backing act for Pestilence. After facing issues with their label, Harrison founded Conquest Music in 1996, releasing the band’s second album "Millennium". Guitarist Jon Rubin and bassist Van Erp were replaced by Jason Morgan and Kelly Conlon, respectively. Shortly after, Fisher left to join Cannibal Corpse and was replaced by Jason Avery.
The band’s third album, "In Dark Purity", was released in 1999 and recorded at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, Florida. Avery performed vocals alongside Harrison on drums, Tony Norman on guitar, and Conlon on bass. In 2004, Monstrosity recorded their fourth album, "Rise to Power", at Audio Hammer Studio in Sanford, Florida, with Harrison producing alongside the band. The album was followed by a U.S. tour and a headlining appearance at a festival in Bogotá, Colombia.
Vocalist changes continued with Brian Werner replacing Avery in 2005, followed by Mike Hrubovcak in 2006. Mark English joined on guitar the same year. The band released "Spiritual Apocalypse" in 2008 and "The Passage of Existence" in 2018.
On January 21, 2026, Monstrosity announced their seventh album, "Screams from Beneath the Surface", scheduled for release on March 13, 2026. The band will tour Europe in April and May 2026 alongside Bio-Cancer, Reject The Sickness, and Deadwood.
